What we do for you

Each engagement starts with understanding your numbers, your people and your market. Then we build a plan around what matters most right now.

Financial restructuring

We review your cash flow cycle, cost base and pricing model. Most clients discover they can reclaim 8 to 15 percent of lost margin within six months by adjusting terms, renegotiating supplier contracts and eliminating hidden cost leaks.

Operational efficiency

Slow handoffs between departments, duplicated reporting and unclear ownership cost more than most founders realise. We map your workflows, identify bottlenecks and redesign processes so your team spends time on output rather than overhead.

Growth strategy

Expanding into a new region or launching a second product line? We build financial models, assess market risk and create a 12-month action plan with clear milestones. You get a roadmap, not a wish list.

Governance and compliance

Whether you need to prepare for external investment, meet regulatory requirements or simply tighten internal controls, we set up governance frameworks that are proportionate to your size and genuinely useful rather than box-ticking exercises.

The gap between where you are and where you want to be

Common problems we hear

  • Revenue is growing but profit is flat or declining
  • The business depends too heavily on one client or product
  • Key decisions are stuck because nobody owns the data
  • Staff turnover is rising and hiring takes too long
  • You have a strategy document from two years ago that nobody follows

What changes after working with us

  • A clear picture of where money enters and leaves your business each month
  • A diversified revenue base with concentration risk mapped and managed
  • Dashboards your management team actually checks every Monday
  • Defined roles, documented processes and faster onboarding
  • A rolling 90-day plan reviewed with an external advisor who holds you accountable

How an engagement works

We keep things simple. Four stages, typically eight to twelve weeks for the initial phase.

Diagnostic

We spend two days inside your business: reviewing financials, interviewing managers and observing operations. You receive a written diagnostic report within ten working days.

Priority setting

Together we pick three to five changes that will have the biggest impact. We rank them by effort, cost and expected return so nothing gets started without a clear business case.

Implementation support

Our team works alongside yours to execute the plan. That might mean renegotiating a lease, building a new reporting template or coaching a department head through a restructure.

Review and adjust

At the 90-day mark we measure results against the original targets. We adjust the plan, hand over documentation and agree on whether ongoing advisory support makes sense.

Visionary Biz Advisors consulting team at work in Scotland

A bit about us

Visionary Biz Advisors started in 2012 when our founding partner left a Big Four firm to focus on the clients that large consultancies often overlook: businesses with five to two hundred employees that are past the startup stage but not yet corporate.

Our team of seven includes a chartered accountant, two former operations directors and a specialist in people strategy. We have worked with manufacturers, professional services firms, hospitality groups and technology companies across central Scotland.

We charge fixed fees agreed before work begins. No hourly billing surprises, no scope creep invoices. If a project runs over because of something on our side, we absorb the cost.

Questions we get asked

How much does a typical engagement cost?
Our diagnostic phase runs between £3,500 and £6,000 depending on the size of the business. Implementation support is priced per project, with most falling between £8,000 and £25,000 over three months. We always quote a fixed fee before starting.
Do you work with businesses outside Scotland?
Yes, though we prefer to be on-site for the diagnostic phase. For clients elsewhere in the UK we schedule two to three in-person visits and handle the rest remotely. We have not taken on international work yet.
What size of company do you usually work with?
Most of our clients have annual revenues between £1 million and £30 million and employ between ten and two hundred people. We are not the right fit for sole traders or for large corporates with their own internal strategy teams.
How quickly can we expect to see results?
Some quick wins, like renegotiated supplier terms or eliminated duplicate subscriptions, show up within weeks. Structural changes to operations or revenue mix typically take three to six months to produce measurable financial impact.
Will you replace our existing accountant or solicitor?
No. We work alongside your existing advisors. We often collaborate directly with your accountant to ensure financial recommendations are tax-efficient and properly recorded. Our role is strategic and operational, not compliance-based.
